Its no secret we are dog fanatics and like to keep ourselves busy with everything dog, I mean who wouldn’t! In 2016 after a highly successful Christmas doggy market we decided to create Scotland’s first indoor doggy expo bringing the Scots everything they could dream of for their best friends. As we dove head first into organising the event we quickly realised the mammoth task we were taking as the days got longer and the nights shorter. Many people thought we were mad, a small family business with two people running it, surely not! Again we rose to the challenge. After 18 months of planning, the show weekend had finally arrived and what a weekend it was. With anticipation we waited for what felt like a life time for the doors to open, moments before and a sneak peak we saw a que of 100’s waiting to enter The Dog Lover Show. Our hearts burst with pride as we could finally see what we had created and the joy it would bring to the public. The weekend few as the public flocked to the event to see the main stage full of doggy entertainment, children’s activities and a breed area that would melt any dog lovers heart. Over 100 exhibitors showcased their wonderful products including everything from doggy bandanas to the latest doggy technology. Sunday at 5pm the door closed and we finally caught our breath as we sat in silence with a tear in our eye at all we had achieved from our little office in Whiteinch. The public were amazing, the exhibitors were amazing and the dogs were amazing, we may have been the luckiest organisers in the world. The event met all our expectations and more. The event was created to bring likeminded dog lovers to one place and teach them more about breeds and what it means to own a dog. Too often we hear of dogs being rehomed because the owners were not equip for the breed or had been mislead in what was involved with specific breeds. Puppy farming is rife and potential owners should be alerted to the risks and how to identify puppy farms. With the help of several dog charities and Cosla we managed to raise awareness and give many dogs to their forever homes. Thank you to everyone who supported us in The Dog Lover Show 2018 and we are delighted to announce we will be returning in 2019!
